Be careful what you wish for. German Shorthaired Pointers have a lot of energy. Until you live it – you really may not fully understand what that means. I’ve spent years wishing for the days when they would just.calm.down. Well those days are here. Gitte has never been extremely high energy, but Gunther…..*sigh*. Well, now, he’s acting his age (10) and its bittersweet.

This past August, I headed off for a weekend of camping at Brighton State Park – my favorite Vermont State Park. They have some great trails that are easily accessible from the campground. Eventually these trails bring you to the train tracks that run through the little town of Island Pond. VT.
The sun was bright and harsh. The dogs were amped and mostly uncooperative about sitting. Sitting side by each. Staying. And glancing in my direction at the same time, but by the grace of the Nikon God it all fell together for the fraction of a second that I needed to get this.

Taking care of the traditional fall chore of dead leaf management and Gunther found himself a warm, soft, hiding spot to spy on the squirrels.
